Being Flexible with Your Vision

by Katherine Burks on January 6, 2010

Spring on whiteA teen client whose career vision had completely shifted over the course of 6 weeks, recently reminded me of the value of remaining flexible with your vision.

Granted, a teenager thinking about college and adulthood is exploring options and trying on all kinds of possibilities. My client may change his mind many more times before he settles on what really fits for him.

I doubt that many adults find their dreams radically shifting the way they do for teens. But perhaps we can learn to incorporate more of the flexibility and openness that they model for us.

It’s easy to get attached to our dreams having to be a certain way. I’m constantly learning the lesson of letting go of how my vision has to look. In fact, the more unattached I can be to the exact outcome, the more I encounter unexpected course-corrections to my journey that are perfect and remarkable.

Are you allowing yourself to be flexible with the vision you are creating in your life?
